Priligy (30mg or 60mg) is a drug to fight premature ejaculation

Considered a very common sexual disorder, premature ejaculation is when a man reaches orgasm quickly, within just minutes after the start of a sexual act (or even thought).

It is the inability of a man to delay his ejaculation long enough to fully satisfy his partner.

According to estimates, almost all men have experienced premature ejaculation during their life, but it becomes problematic when it happens frequently.

Fortunately, there are treatments for this problem, such as Priligy, which is the most well-known amongst them.

On 20 January 2012, the European Medicines Agency announced the end of an arbitration procedure following a disagreement among the EU Member States regarding the authorization of Priligy tablets. Having established that the benefits of the 60mg tablet significantly outweighed the disadvantages, the agency decided that Sweden’s marketing authorisation could also apply to the rest of the EU countries. What should you know about this medicine?

What is Priligy Dapoxetine?

Menarini logoPriligy is a drug manufactured by the Menarini laboratory, it is used in treatment for premature ejaculation in men aged between 18 and 64 (these sexual disorders can affect any age or ethnicity). The goal of this treatment is to increase the time taken to ejaculate by increasing a neurological transmitter between nerve cells.

Dapoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) is the drug’s active ingredient. This substance acts by preventing serotonin from returning to the brain cells and the spinal cord, thus increasing the amount of serotonin between these nerve cells.

Thanks to dapoxetine, serotonin levels are high enough to allow the individual to gain enough confidence to avoid rapid ejaculation. So any agonising sensation, of stress, fear or other emotional event promoting prematurity, disappear completely.

Currently, the most common dose is 30mg, but there is also a 60mg dose.

Priligy should only be prescribed to patients who meet all the criteria listed as follows:

  • Intravaginal ejaculation latency time is less than two minutes (otherwise, ejaculation is not considered premature)
  • Ejaculation is always produced with minimal sexual stimulation before, during and after penetration (or earlier, during a single sexual stimulation).
  • The patient or his marriage is suffering because of premature ejaculation.
  • The patient has no other way to delay his orgasm
  • The patient has experienced premature ejaculation in the majority of his sexual relations for the last 6 months (over 50%).

What are the benefits of this treatment for premature ejaculation?

There are numerous benefits, and they all help to cause enough of a delay to ejaculation to have a normal sex life, and to satisfy both partners.

Among its advantages are:

  1. It can significantly increase sexual performance (time before ejaculation multiplied by 4)
  2. It works for a long time (6 to 8 hours), which allows its user to take it ahead of any possible sexual relations, discreetly (although it is not advisable to hide any early problems from your partner because this may increase stress, which is a harmful element in these disorders).
  3. It is very easy to take, as you simply take it with a glass of water (with or without food).

What dosages are available for Priligy Dapoxetine?

Before prescribing Priligy, the doctor must first conduct a medical examination, including an orthostatic test to determine if the patient could be experiencing a reaction of the same name. If this is the case, treatment should be avoided, and your doctor may refer you to an alternative one that is more appropriate for your body.

The first recommended dose for all patients is 30mg. The tablet should be taken 1 to 3 hours before sexual activity.

It is not recommended to start with the 60mg dose. In the case where the treatment is not satisfactory for the patient using the 30mg dose, the patient will be prescribed the 60mg maximum dose, as long as he has not suffered from moderate or severe adverse reactions, and does not show symptoms of a potential syncope.

However, it should be noted that adverse effects are more frequent and more severe for the 60mg dose. Most of these effects are related to this class of drug (see the section on adverse effects later in the article).

Priligy is taken orally and can be taken with or without food, a maximum of once a day. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water as to avoid the bitter taste. In doing so, the patient reduces the risk of dizziness, which is likely to appear during the first few administrations.

It is recommended that the doctor assesses the risks and benefits of the treatment for the patient after 4 weeks of treatment (or after taking 6 doses) to determine whether it is appropriate to continue treatment with Priligy.

What if I forget to take my treatment?

It is not advisable to take two doses of Priligy in one go, and it is also totally unnecessary. If you miss taking your premature ejaculation treatment, it is important not to panic.

If you can wait an hour before having sex, then take the dose normally. Otherwise, proceed to sexual intercourse without taking this treatment, which will also help you to compare possible improvements vis-à-vis your last performance without the drug.

What are the contraindications of Priligy?

18+Priligy is not advised for women, and can only be prescribed to people aged between 18 and 64, suffering from premature ejaculation. If the patient is allergic to dapoxetine or any of the ingredients in this medicine they are not allowed to take the drug. It is also contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Heart problems (trouble with heart rhythm outside of exercise)
  • A history of fainting
  • History of mania (the patient is excited, angry or unable to think clearly)
  • History of severe depression (diagnosed by a health professional)
  • Moderate or severe problems in the liver.
  • Proven presence of epilepsy and seizure disorders

Priligy should not be bought and taken along with medications for fungal infections, antibiotics, antidepressants or therapy against HIV. It is also prohibited to take this medicine at the same time as medicines for the treatment of mental illness.

Finally, buying Priligy is not recommended for patients with severe renal failure. Caution is recommended for those who suffer from it mildly or moderately. It is the same for patients with visual problems. In any case, there is no need to worry, simply talk to your doctor, who will reassure you and allow you to take this treatment without risks.

How do I buy Priligy online & in Australia?

prescriptionWhen we think of buying a prescription drug, whatever it is, the first thing that comes to mind is the pharmacy.

Buy Priligy in an Australian pharmacy

For this, we must first make an appointment with our doctor, who will perform a medical examination and ask about our problems. Talking openly about ejaculatory disorder with a doctor can be difficult for some men. Whether a doctor or not, men find the gaze of other men difficult to accept. Although millions of men worldwide suffer from premature ejaculation, this disorder is still widely considered a weakness. Beyond the taboo aspect, in order to buy Priligy in a pharmacy, you need to make an appointment with the doctor, as indicated above. This implies that you must have time in your schedule to go and see the doctor.

Buy Priligy online in Australia

To overcome any taboos and scheduling problems, it is now possible to buy Priligy online. Shopping on the Internet does not mean you can get the treatment without a prescription and without consulting a doctor. Some online clinics allow patients to take a controlled medical consultation, which is validated by a doctor. Following this, if the doctor considers the patient’s condition is suitable, he will be able to buy Priligy online and receive the treatment at home.

Before ordering the prescription, you should be aware that many unscrupulous websites allow you to buy counterfeit medication. These fake drugs are potentially harmful to your health. The purchase must be done on a trusted site. Educate yourself before making any purchase online.

What is the price of Priligy online & in Australia?

As we noted earlier, Priligy is a medication available only by prescription. The price of drugs in this class are freely determined by pharmacists, who set the prices of their drugs. While some men may find the price of Priligy particularly high, be aware that it is now the only prescription medication treating premature ejaculation. Clinical studies have proven it to be more effective than other “natural” pills.

You should also know that the drug is not reimbursed by social security.

  • Priligy price: Buy Priligy in an Australian pharmacy

In a pharmacy, the price for 3 pills of Priligy 30mg varies from £21 to £30, or £40 to £80 for 6 pills. It is also necessary to add the cost of your doctor’s consultation to this price.

  • Priligy price: Buy Priligy online in Australia

Prices are relatively high online, but they are justified by the inclusion of both the delivery and consultation charges. Online, prices range from 25 to £35 for 3 pills of 30mg and £45 to £90 for 6 pills.

Caution: We recommend that you go to your doctor and buy the treatment in a pharmacy. However, if you wish to order online, you must be aware that many sites try to attract customers with promotions like “cheap Priligy” “cheaper Priligy, or “without a prescription”. Know that these drugs are probably fakes.
